graphics
for print and web
Images require attention to make them print
or web ready even if they are professionally produced. Color
adjustments may be needed to accentuate a color palette
or to match the actual product. I've adjusted a background
color to play up the mood of the page or eliminated the
background, altogether, to make the product the "star".
On clothing. wrinkles may need to be smoothed or a label
removed. For web, it is important to optimize images in
the right format to make file sizes small enough to load
on your browser quickly, yet have enough detail to maintain
quality viewing.
photograph corrections
Images underexposed on the left are corrected
for brightness, contrast, and saturation. This helps the
image pop on screen.

background color changes
The
baby and Mom picture with the orange background is the original.
The background visually competes with the baby. When I saw
this image, my first impression was, "Why orange? It
looks so bright!".
|
This
is the same image with the background knocked-out and changed
to a light blue. Getting the hair "just right" was
the biggest challenge, here. |
I
changed the background to a gradient blue and framed the image
to focus on the baby. |
image knock-outs
These flowers are very soft looking with
the background intact.
Sometimes,
it is necessary to knockout the background to focus clearly
on the details of the subject. This is especially true of
certain products displayed on the web. An electronic item,
such as a camera, is a good example.
